John’s love of art has been long held. Whilst a student at Edinburgh University studying Landscape Architecture he exhibited work at the student art exhibition held at the Talbot Rice gallery and has continued to show his work in group exhibitions ever since.
He worked for many years in the vibrant architects department of Milton Keynes New City Corporation from near its inception in the early ‘70s. This offered the exciting opportunity to work alongside artists such as Liz Leyh and Bernard Shottlanger and to construct some land art to his own design.
Currently he enjoys painting and sketching in the beautiful East Lothian countryside. In the studio he also enjoys painting with acrylics both abstract and landscape subjects. He is also an active printmaker in both relief and drypoint. He studied mokuhanga printing under the Edinburgh artist Paul Ferneaux and for a number of years has attended Chinese painting workshops held by Chi Zhang at the Confucius Institute.
