Edinburgh based artist, Ian Stuart Campbell studied at Glasgow School of Art, Mackintosh School of Architecture and Glasgow University and has special interest in urban design, conceptual planning and design communication.
He is an enthusiastic artist who considers drawing, painting and photography to be essential tools for any design process. Stuart has practical experience in the design of major commercial architectural projects as former Design Director with Hugh Martin Partnership, subsequently Archial Architects, based in Edinburgh.
His current ongoing art project – "The Architectural Tourist" – involves sketching and interpreting successful buildings and public spaces in cities throughout Europe and Scandinavia. Stuart’s sketches are widely published and a book of images and texts "From Norway to Naples" featuring his sketches is available at RIAS Bookshop. Stuart has been a member of SSAA since its inception in 1987 and has served as Secretary and President of the Society and has encouraged strong links with the European architect artists of “Ligne et Couleur”.

Membership of the Society is open to all registered architects, past and present students of architecture and those who have worked in architecture, planning and landscape in Scotland. Annual membership is currently only £20.
